My intention was to design an occasional table that would rise to its task with elegance and grace. The piece seems to welcome the opportunity to help and support. This piece stands alone beautifully or works as a grouping.
Woods and Finishes
Our wood often comes from fallen trees or industrial cast-offs so our selection of species is ever- changing. There are some woods we regularly have in stock although our species selection varies based on availability. On occasion a special piece of wood may become available to us that will not be seen on this list. Every piece of wood tells a story, and we make every effort to find the right wood for the right application.
We offer two types of finishes: hardwax oil and catalyzed varnish. Hardwax oil is a soft, natural finish that protects wood while it enhances grain and allows the wood to breathe. Catalyzed varnish is a hard finish with smooth texture that seals wood to protect it from minor spills and scuffs. Custom stains and finishes are available upon request.
Douglas fir is a durable and fine-grained wood, valued for its strength and beautiful orange-golden hues.
Western Red Cedar
British Columbia’s official tree and a culturally significant icon, the western red cedar has been used for generations of coastal people to create art, furniture, medicine, clothing, canoes, house planks and baskets. Cedar is naturally weather and insect resistant, which makes this wood appropriate for both indoor and outdoor applications.
