This large dining table was produced for Yew seafood + bar in downtown Vancouver, which is located inside the Four Seasons hotel. I had initially done a smaller dining table and a wall sculpture many years ago for a different space within the restaurant. This massive table is constructed of western maple and is 28 feet in length.
The western maple comprising this piece had been air-drying in a barn on Vancouver Island for more than 10 years after being removed by the city of Nanaimo. Rather than creating one solitary piece, the separate sections were assembled as if they were parts of a quilt. The different components were stitched together to create a beautiful space that becomes much more stunning than its individual pieces alone.
