Story
One of many common names for the clam most often found along the higher tide levels along the BC Coast down to mid -California. You may have heard of their other names: Manila Clams or Steamer Clams.
They were originally introduced from Japan in the 30’s and are very successful in tolerating varying salinities and pollution. Asari shells have a variety of colours and mottled textures, much like the beautiful grain of many wood species we utilize in our work.
The current Limited Edition of Asari features Silver Maple, a wood light in weight and colour that is reminiscent of my favourite, sun-bleached shell.
